Quirkiness
I have never been one to stake a claim to quirkiness. Oh, the daughters and other family members have added “iness” to several other qualities they say I have, but quirky has never been one.
My style is pretty staid and steady . . . go with the flow . . . don’t upset the applecart . . . erm . . . do these pants make my _____ look big? type of person. Yup, that’s me.
That does NOT, however, mean that I cannot enjoy other people’s quirkiness. So, when a discussion on ravelry brought up an etsy knitter - the discussion went along the line of omg! what stitch IS that? - I had to go looking for said knittier’s etsy space.
Since the raveler had not given out the address, it took me a bit of time finding her . . . but I just entered cowl into the search bar and eventually came across . . . Yokoo.
Seriously folks . . . if you wanna see quirky, you have to check her out. (click on her logo < --- over there) She models her work and . . . well, you just have to go over and check it out. The cowls are big and clunky and would have been PERFECT for our Alaskan weather a couple of weeks ago. A couple are in a color she calls "fig" and are a beautimous shade of purple.
Well, you can make your own judgements on her work and the quirkiness thereof . . . I hope you will go and look. Etsy houses many independent designers and crafters. You can spend a lot of time AND a lot of money while there. But, in visiting some of the artisans listed there you can expand your own horizons. And that is never a bad thing.
Now . . . as a Gramma to seven gorgeous (if I do say so myself) grandchilluns (many of whom are quirky in their own rights) . . . this story by Lessa just broke my heart - and, in the end made me so very proud to call Lessa my daughter. Long story short . . . our kids are the very important future of ourselves. Love on yours - and spare a little love for some others while you’re at it.
Have a great Sunday, everyone!
