My Sweater
This was the original yarn called for in this pattern:Victorian Brushed Mohair
I can’t show you what I am actually using, though, because my camera batteries need to be recharged. So PTC on that. But it’s some of the yarn that I received from the Relief Society President, which means I’m still maintaining my resolution. I like it because it’s black and sparkles, although I don’t know who it’s made by, where it came from, or what it’s made of. I have about 10 skeins of it though, (all without labels) and it’s worsted weight, so I’m using it. According to the pattern, I need 725yds of the 1st yarn, so I’m pretty sure I have enough…
My gauge swatch says I should be using size 11 needles, but I’m using 13s because that’s what I started with when I was at Lisa’s, and I don’t want to start over. I can do this because the sweater is for *me* so if it’s too big I will probably like it better anyway. It was 1/2 a stitch over the patterns gauge, so you can imagine the possibilities…. by the way, the yarn in the pattern says that it’s worsted weight, but my yarn seems to be thicker that the one in the book. I wonder if it’s just my yarn or if the yarn in the book is labeled incorrectly?
I also took my gauge swatch in the shower with me yesterday, to see if it will felt, or soften as it’s pretty scratchy, but I’m pretty sure it’s not a natural fiber. Judging by the sheer amount of it, I’m almost positive it’s acrylic, but we’ll see how it goes. It seems to be less scratchy the more I knit, and relaxes quite a bit in warm water. I’ll update you with a pic tomorrow.
