Hearts for Baby
Continuing with our theme of hearts for February knitting and crafting . . . here is a cute baby afghan pattern.
It looks pretty straight forward and easy to do . . . just knit and purls stitches. You might want to graph out one of the hearts if that will make it easier for you to keep track. Wouldn’t be absolutely necessary, but some folks find working with a graph easier than not.
Even though the afghan is shown in blue, you could (of course) make it in pink for a little girl or any of the baby colors that are available today.
Most of us lean towards the light colors when knitting for baby . . . but one of the most attractive things I have ever seen was a sweater outfit a friend of mine made for a young mother. She used the deepest, most gorgeous shade of indigo blue I’ve ever seen. It might not have been my choice of color for a baby . . . but it was beautiful.
And . . . she chose matching ribbon for the bonnet - not silky or satiny ribbon . . . more like the kind you use when wrapping packages - only without the wire that makes it easy for bows to stand up. Do you know the kind I mean? The effect was stunning.
I think having seen her work made it a bit easier for me to go out onto that limb and make the deep purple colored outfit for my young friend whose baby SHOULD be here by now. I know she was due around my birthday . . . I think a few days before. Wonder if I got my wish and now have a younger birthday twin? I’ll let you all know when I know - hope to share a picture of the baby IN the outfit.
