Know a Marine? Love a Marine? Love someone who loves a Marine?
Yeah, me, too. My friend’s son is in the Marines - stateside for now - and she misses him terribly. Saturday when I went to visit her I took her the USMC emblem cloth. She promptly told me that it would not be used to wash her dishes.
I miss the LCpl, too. Several years ago when he was much younger he and his buddy got together (although to this day the buddy professes innocence - I remind him that he was right there laughing at the end.) and wrapped a rubber band around the sprayer in the kitchen sink at church.
It was meant for someone else I’m told.
It’s probably a good thing that it happened to me.
I laugh at such things.
However . . . .
I also march said young men to their parents for discipline after such actions. Tough love.
Do you know how hard it is NOT to laugh in front of the miscreants? Yeah, very hard. His punishment from his parents was that he had to be my slave for the next month of Sundays. I could only think of ONE thing for him to do - take my newspapers to the recycling station at the dump.
Of course, he didn’t drive at that time, so his parents actually had to drive him to my house and then to the dump. So . . . just who was being punished????
oh, yes . . . when he went to Marine boot camp, he begged me NOT to tell his CO about the water incident. I did not. (yet)
