Oh, by the way…

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

For a New Year’s treat, here are some links to my newest pages:

Finished Projects
Pictures of Us
Patterns

I’m still trying to figure out how to get them actually listed on my main page, as I am not in charge of this.

Happy New Year!

Editing the Blog

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

So I’ve been going back a few entries and editing stuff, like adding the Technorati tags, and making the entries shorter with links to the full article, (or whatever it’s called).

I’ve also fixed some of the pictures so that they’re thumbnails in the blog entry, but when you click on them you get a full size pic. I think this might be better for slower connections and what-not, but let me know if it’s better.
Not this one though. It’s already full size.kid1_2b.gif

See I told you! You clicked it anyway, didn’t you?

Since I’m still not sure if that bloody Contact link works or not, send me an email at kandrews41006 (at) yahoo (dot) com

Sorry. I’ve been getting lots of spam lately.

Or you can just leave a comment. That works too.

You mean other people are making scarves, too?

Click on the thumbnails for larger pictures.

This is Crochet Lyme Scarf #1 by Lisa. She actually re-did Tick, after she sent this though. I’d like to mention that Lisa just re-learned to crochet within the past couple months. How impressive is this, then?

And this is from Denise, who just crochets like the wind, apparently!

Man… people are awesome.

Christmas gifts (in case you wanted to know)

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

I didn’t post this before because of all the drama I was dealing with regarding all the sick people in my house. But now, here for your enertainment, is the list of knitting related gifts I received on Christmas.

Let me preface this by noting that the original plan regarding gifts to and from my mom, my sister, and my husband was that we would all buy our own gifts, wrap them, mark them as being “from” someone else (as mentioned above), and let that person open them Christmas morning. This was supposed to create some insight as to what we really wanted, as well as us actually getting what we really wanted, all without spending too much and having to worry about not having spent enough.

Mittens update (and I found out what “tags” are!)

Friday, December 29th, 2006

So I finished the other mitten. I’m in the process of adding Tick to the back of them. It’s turning out… ok. I’m not really sure if I like it or not, but then again I’ve never been a big fan of duplicate stitch. PTC. ;) (That’s going to stand for Pattern as well as Picture, this time. I finally wrote it out, but Josh is sleeping in the bedroom and I don’t want to bug him to go get my knitting journal.)

The only good thing about being sick…

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

…is all the knitting you get to do, guilt free!

Knitting in the doctor’s office… for three hours.
Knitting at the pharmacy… for one hour.
Knitting in bed… for many hours.

Bliss, right?

Well yeah unless your baby has 2 ear infections, 2 pink eyes, and bronchitis AND your 7 year old has bronchitis and the flu and has been throwing up…in the doctor’s office, in the pharmacy, and in bed.

Oh, and I’m sick as well.

The podcast is up.

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

This is not where I want it ultimately, but it will do for now. Until I can figure out the long way around, anyway.

Just so you know, the more I listen to this the more I hate it.

But that’s just me.

Speaking of Sales

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

Joann Fabrics is having their biggest yarn sale of the year. So if you’re looking for specialty yarn, not only do they have the best selection of brand and original yarns (in my opinion) but they also have sales regularly. I’m not being paid for this, I just like them alot for cheap specialty yarn. I don’t recommend them for natural fibers though. If you like wool or alpaca and can’t stand to touch acrylic and rayon, then just forget I said anything.

Knitting, knitting, knitting

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

Of course the holidays are a frantic time for knitters. With an idea of saving money, we all decide to make every member of the family a handmade gift. Starting in January we decide who will get what, and how long it will take. We then plan how much yarn we will need to purchase, how much we already have in our stash, and what yarn will go toward what project. We search patterns in books, patterns online, patterns in our LYS.

Then we start the knitting.

Wanna hear something hilarious?

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

Well, read something hilarious would be more accurate.

In my podcast I talked about a scarf I made in about an hour using those giganto needles. I made it for my stepmom for Christmas, and said, oh so helpfully, that I would post a pic of it on my blog.

Well, I’m not gonna.

Fixed the link

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

So the link below was right, except I forgot the “=” sign. Oh well. I fixed it now. Its actually linking to where it’s supposed to go, where before it was linking back to knittingpassion.com.

I’m up again trying to figure out the podcasting thing. I have a feed now at least. I have to host it over at the other blog though. I don’t think 451Press will let me do it here.

That reminds me, I need to have them put the link to that blog on my sidebar. Don’t let me forget to do that!

It lives!

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

I have officially finished my first ever podcast. It’s about 20 minutes long, and contains all sorts of ums, uhs, and breathiness. Also I discovered I click my tongue alot when I talk, which is something I never knew before. I wonder if that’s annoying?

NOW I have to figure out how to get it on iTunes, so I can email Brenda Dayne and tell her about it. I’m also trying to put it on my blog at Blogger.

Mitten and scarf update

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

Lisa has finished her first crocheted Lyme scarf, and it is beautiful! It’s black and purple striped with Tick embroidered on. I’m still waiting for her permission with the pics.

I have officially finished my very first mitten ever. Sans Tick. Wanna see it? OK, if you insist. Keep in mind this is pre-blocking.

My favorite yarn (of the minute)

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

I love this yarn. Since you can’t tell from the light glare… it says Bernat Super Stripes. The color is B & Sea. The image is squashed for some reason, but I don’t know if it’s the computer or the new site layout.

photo-10.jpg

I’ll say it again: I LOVE this yarn!

It’s not just the colors, or the neat stripes you get, or the differences in stripe pattern depending on the number of stitches you cast on. This yarn works up so soft and fluffy on size 10 needles and is still soft and airy on size 50 needles. It’s also Bulky weight so it knits pretty fast. So far I have no complaints about it at all!

Beautiful Excess

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

Wanna see something great?

photo-6.jpg

That’s size 50 knitting needles. Yes you heard me. 25mm. How unnecessary and yet awesome is that? (I’m still figuring out the camera so sorry about the reversed image.)

About Knitting Passion

Is knitting really a passion? On THIS blog it is - for all who come here. Blog entries will be made up of patterns, photos of in-progress or completed work - off the wall discussions about whatever tickles the author's fancy (Survivor Knitting anyone?). This can be as much YOUR blog as it is the current author's. Questions will be entertained and answers sought diligently. Comments are always welcome - and information ALWAYS appreciated. Will there be stories and pictures of the stash of yarn or the duplicated knitting needles? Will there be more off the wall ideas for knitting? Will there be original patterns or freebies cited? Only the dark of night and the author's amount of caffeine or sleep can determine that.

Ready? ONE - TWO - GET SET - KNIT!
